Carpets and liquids don’t get along. The dampness may cause it to look and smell bad, plus, there’s the added risk of fungus growing on it! Still, accidents happen, and a leak, a spill, or a flood may have caused your carpet to end up looking like a swamp.

If this is the case, and you’re in panic mode because you don’t know what to do, don’t worry! Cleveland Cleanpro Professionals has your back!

How to Dry a Carpet Properly

Extract the Excess!

Blot the damp spots with some clean towels to remove some of the water in your carpet. If the spill is too big, try using a vacuum to extract the excess further!

Expose

For a bigger water disaster, you’ll need to resort to more extravagant solutions. If possible, try lifting the affected area of the carpet and exposing the padding so the air can get to it.

Air it Out

Fans, windows, and doors should all be at work to allow the air to circulate through the room! This will help speed up the drying process, so your carpet can go back to normal.

Let it Rest!

Your carpet is exhausted from all of the stress it has gone through. Make sure to let it be and avoid stepping on it or placing furniture over the afflicted zone until it’s 100% dry!

Clean it Well

Even after it’s dry, you may find that the humidity left an aftermath in your carpet. Clean it by mixing vinegar, dishwashing soap and water and dabbing the area. Then, sprinkle some baking soda and let it absorb the odors. Vacuum it up and that’s it!
